Android and iPhone have around 90% of the smartphone market, so why is anyone else in the game? Apparently, companies like Microsoft feel like they can unseat the top two operating systems and they might have good reason to think that. According to PCMag's Readers' Choice Poll Microsoft rates the highest in overall user satisfaction. Not only did they beat Android and iPhone, they got an average score of 9.0. PCMag's editors say that "ratings of 9.0 or higher are few and far between and that's why we're so impressed with Windows Phone 8's ratings."
Apple fairs pretty well in the survey too, but they didn't gain anything over last year. When you're the kind of the jungle there is a target on your back. It's incredibly impressive that users are so happy with the Windows Phone experience, especially when the app base is smaller and the ecosystem isn't as mature as Apple's.
Way to go Microsoft. I'm glad to see such a strong showing!
