Well that was fast. Just weeks after the official launch of Microsoft's Kin line of phones, it looks like the company is pulling the plug. engadget is reporting that Andy Lees has "rolled Kin into the Windows Phone 7 team" and canceled the existing product's European launch. Microsoft's official statement reads:
"We have made the decision to focus exclusively on Windows Phone 7 and we will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned. Additionally, we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current KIN phones."
That was fast, but I can't blame them. Just look at the Kin. Who would really buy that over one of the other platforms? I'm looking forward to Windows 7.
