Casio Leaving the Pocket PC Marketplace

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - September 06, 2002

According to reports from several sources it seems that the recent rumors hinting at the demise of the Cassiopeia E-200 have been correct. We've been hearing that Casio would be discontinuing their E-200 line of Pocket PCs since August, and it seems that this is true.

The latest info suggests that Casio will not be releasing a new line to replace the E-200. It is now being reported that Casio will cease to market consumer Pocket PCs. The company is switching its focus to corporate devices such as the rugged EG-800STD-S.

I've worked with the E-200, and I thought that it was one of the better Pocket PCs out there. Although I understand that the current market makes it increasingly difficult to profit through the sale of Pocket PCs I hate to see a company which has been around since the early days of Windows CE leave the Pocket PC market.
