News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - September 30, 2002

ViewSonic, the company known mainly for it's computer monitors and displays, is set to release a device into the Pocket PC market. The ViewSonic V35 Pocket PC, which is scheduled for a release in November, will have a price tag of $299.

ViewSonic hopes to capture a new segment of PDA users with it's low priced Pocket PC. Altough the V35 is believed to be the least expensive Pocket PC on the market it still has all of the bells and whistles of higher priced Pocket PCs.

According to reports the V35 will include a 300-MHz Intel XScale processor, and have 32MB of flash memory and 64MB of RAM. The display will be a 3.5-inch, 240-by-320 pixel LCD, and support 64,000 colors. Additional features include an SD expansion slot, speaker, headphone jack, microphone, and a jog dial. All of this in a device that weighs under 5 oz.

In addition to the standard software ViewSonic is reportedly going to bundle a PowerPoint file viewer and a picture viewer application with the device.
