WinCE Powered NetPad Sales Soar

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - October 16, 2002

Psion Teklogix recently released a new model of their netpad device running Windows CE. The high sales volume of the CE powered netpad is excellent for Teklogix, but it may not bode so well for parent company, Psion.

The rugged netpad devices have garnered 15% of the netpad's sales although the devices have been out for only a few months. Raf Jezierski, director of mobile computing Psion Teklogix international, has even said that he believes the WinCE devices will have captured 50% of the market within one year.

The high demand for these devices has been caused by more than simple desire for Microsoft products. The high demand is being fueled by the move towards the .Net architecture. When Microsoft said that .Net emcompassed everything I had no idea that they were including their cometitors products as well.

Does this move indicate a shift in thinking at Teklogix? Is it possible that we'll soon see a Teklogix device shipping with Pocket PC or WIndows Powered Smartphone OS?

Stay tuned for all the latest information...
