Although Windows Phone has seen some growth recently, and Windows 10 for Phones holds a lot of promise, another high profile app has bailed on WP. News Republic has dropped their Windows Phone apps because it is simply not sustainable. The company dropped their News Republic and Appy Geek reader apps.
The sad reality is Windows Phone is seriously behind the competition in terms of adoption. Microsoft missed the mobile revolution and although their efforts have been good, they came too late to the table. Things can change, but right now they are still far behind iOS and Android. What a bummer!
Unfortunately, today it is not sustainable for our company to provide the service while maintaining the quality that we offer on other platforms. So we prefer to suspend the ability to download our applications on the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 platform and avoid offering a product not being updated as happened with News Republic for WP7 in the past. We will remain vigilant observers however of the launch of Windows 10, waiting for new opportunities!
