Microsoft has released a video that takes you behind the scenes to see how they came up with the touch cover for the new Surface. Apparently, they came up with the concept way back in 2003, but it wasn't ready for prime time. Now, Microsoft feels like they have something unique and in fact, they do.
The keyboard cover functions much like a laptop keyboard but it is only 3mm thick. That's pretty thin. It brings more functionality to the surface tablet than we've seen in other tablets and I'm sure it will change the way we think about tablet covers.
The touch cover is an extra purchase, but so far it seems well worth it. We'll know for sure when Microsoft launches the Surface on Friday.
