Windows Phone GM leaves Microsoft to launch startup

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - August 08, 2011

Long time Microsoft employee Charlie Kindel, is leaving the company after 21 years to launch a startup. Kindle led the effort to get developers to support Windows Phone. Although he is leaving the company just as Windows Phone is starting out, he says he still believes in the long-term prospects of Microsoft in the smartphone space.

In a farewell message to Microsoft employees he wrote, “To the Windows Phone team: I may stop using some Microsoft products now that I’m out of here. But not Windows Phone. The BEST product Microsoft has ever built. Do not let up!”

Kindel's most recent position was General Manager of the Windows Phone Developer Ecosystem. How will this affect Windows Phone going forward? Only time will tell.
