We heard a few rumors recently about Acer working on a Windows Phone 7 device, but now it seems more official. In an interview with Ina Fried, Acer CEO, Gianfranco Lanci let the cat out of the bag. Acer is working on a Windows Phone 7 device.
In referring to Windows Phone 7, Mr. Lanci said he sees "the same opportunity you can see on Android in terms of customization." It's anyone's guess what he is referring to, but he must believe that he can customize Windows Phone 7 in a way that benefits an Acer device.
Acer's entry into the Windows Phone 7 space won't deter the company in other areas. Acer will continue to work on Android devices as well as PCs.
