Microsoft says 30 Windows Mobile handsets by end of 2009

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - September 23, 2009

With all the buzz about the Palm Pre, Android, iPhone and BlackBerry we've sort of forgotten about Microsoft's Windows Mobile. According to DigiTimes however, Microsoft is still a player in the mobile marketplace.

"More than 30 smartphones running on Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 from a total of over 15 handset vendors are to be launched before the end of 2009, according to Benjamin Tan, senior director, GCR Mobile Team Unit at Microsoft China."

HTC, Acer, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba and HP are all still supporting Microsoft's OS. Palm, Inc. on the other hand said they will be dropping Windows Mobile to focus on WebOS.
