Microsoft has released a final version of Windows Mobile Device Center for Windows Vista. This is the replacement for ActiveSync in Windows Vista. If you have a Windows Mobile phone or PDA that you want to sync with Vista, you'll need the new download.

Some have reported that Windows Mobile Device Center is still unstable and does not work will all phones and PDAs. If you have Vista, you have no choice but to download Windows Mobile Device Center as ActiveSync does not work with Windows Vista.
