If you think you're up to the task you may also select to take on the Emperor's Challenge. The goal in the Emperor's Challenge is to successfully complete all 72 board layouts. You progress through each of the 12 layouts in all six themes collecting gem's of wisdom as you clear the goal for each board. Each board layout in the Emperor's Challenge has a particular goal that you must accomplish in order to move on. The goals involve clearing a certain number of tiles in a designated amount of time. The round ends when there are no free matching tiles remaining on the board, or if time has expired on the countdown timer. If the round has ended and you have met or exceeded the goal you will be presented a gem of wisdom and the next board layout will load.

If you crave more than the 72 included layouts you can add your own unique designs to the mix by creating new board layouts in the layout editor. The editor offers the ability to create horizontal as well as vertical effects. Stacks up to five tiles high can be created in the level editor. With the editor you are able to view a single horizontal layer at time. The pieces below that level appear as lighter images. This helps when creating complicated designs. Once you have completed creating your layout you can play it in either the single or two-player modes.

Conclusion

Hexacto has created a winner with The Emperor's Mahjongg. The colors and background music create a nice Chinese ambiance and the game is addictingly fun. The Emperor's Mahjongg is nice in that it can be played by two players or a single player with equal fun. Users can create profiles enabling multiple players can attempt to complete the Emperor's Challenge on their own with a single Pocket PC.

I give The Emperor's Mahjongg an enthusiastic 4.5 out of 5. There is so much depth to this game that I'm sure it is something that will remain on my Pocket PCs for quite some time to come. If you would like more information on The Emperor's Mahjongg click here.
