Dopod 828 Smartphone Plays MP3s

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - July 21, 2005

Taiwan-based Dopod International plans to enter the handset market in India, New Zealand and Australia in the fourth quarter of this year, according to a report by DigiTimes Telecom.

Although Dopod International is known for marketing high-end handheld devices manufactured by High Tech Computer (HTC), Dopod began marketing products under its own brand in Hong Kong this month.

Dopod launched an MP3 player/smartphone, the Dopod 828, in Taiwan yesterday. The Dopod 828 is basically a repackaged HTC Magician with 128MB of RAM. The phone runs Windows Mobile for Pocket PC, has a built-in 1.3-megapixel digital camera and features Skype P2P (peer-to-peer) software. It sells for $748.
