New Opera Browser Reformats Pages for Handhelds

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - January 21, 2004

Opera Software has unveiled its latest browser with Medium-Screen Rendering (MSR), which is designed to create a user-friendly version of Web pages for handheld-sized screens. You can flip the handheld on it's side to gain more screen space.

Many web browsers for handhelds cannot render most Web pages without introducing horizontal scrolling or totally reformatting the page. The new Opera browser with MSR readjusts Web pages to fit on other screen sizes without introducing horizontal scrolling. It identifies the Web page's content and adapts these different elements individually to fit on handheld-sized screens.

Opera says its creation has been met with enthusiasm from the industry, and MSR has already been delivered to several vendors. More information is available on the Opera Software web site.
