Dell to Add Bluetooth to Axim X3i

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - January 19, 2004

Dell has received FCC approval to add Bluetooth wireless to their Axim X3i Pocket PC. The X3i's antenna already included the Bluetooth logo because Dell had originally planned to include Bluetooth in the Wi-fi X3i, so this is no surprise. The FCC approval paves the way for a new X3 device.

Dell chose to leave Bluetooth out of it's top-of-the-line model to keep the cost down but it has changed its tune again. Bluetooth is back. European demand may be driving this enhanced X3i addition according to a recent PC World article.

Bluetooth seems to be the main addition to the X3i as the other specifications will largely remain the same. Availability and pricing information has not yet been released.
