Symantec Releases AntiVirus for Handhelds

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - August 25, 2003

Symantec Corp. is set to release a new antivirus product for PDAs, including a service to update PDAs through a wireless connection.

Symantec’s AntiVirus for Handhelds will be available for PDAs running on Palm and Pocket PC operating systems. The Company’s LiveUpdate service will allow users with wireless PDAs to download virus definitions and Symantec products directly to their devices. Very cool.

“As handheld devices are used in more homes and corporations, they make an increasingly attractive target platform for viruses and malicious code,” said Steve Cullen, senior vice president of consumer and client product delivery at Symantec. “Symantec AntiVirus for Handhelds protects these devices, which in turn, strengthens overall home and enterprise security.”

The new Antivirus for Handhelds will be available next month. An annual service edition will sell for $40.
