Candy Catchup - Simply Addiciting

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - July 01, 2003

One of the newest gadgets added to my ever growing list of devices is a Windows Powered Smartphone. What's the first thing I wanted to do once I got it charged up and connected? I was set to install a few games.

When looking for games to install to my Smartphone I started with puzzle games. I haven't had too much experience with the d-pad and I figured puzzle games do not usually require too much rapid movement. I looked through the different puzzle games and one game that caught my eye was Candy Catchup.

The game caught my eye with it's attractive screens. The game has won a spot on my phone (well, actually my SD card) with its totally addicting gameplay. It's like those old Lay's potato chip commercials. One game is not enough.

The concept behind the game is simple enough. Make bundles containing three or more 'candies'. The larger the bundle the higher the score they will bring. Try to get the biggest bundle of candy, but don't take too long or your time will run out.

The idea of created connected bundles of colored balls, blocks, or candies is not a new concept; but AIM Productions has managed to take this idea and create a truly unique gaming experience. An nice added twist to the game is that there is the built-in abiity to synchronize your scores enabling you to compare your scores with other Candy Catchers.

Overall Impressions
Candy Catcher is the first game that I've loaded onto my Windows Powered Smartphone, and I can honsetly say that it will remain a part of it for quite some time to come. The game plays well, it has excellent sound effects, and most of all it's fun. On the standard scale from 1 - 5 I would give Candy Catchup a 4.5.

I would strongly recommend giving Candy Catchup a try, but you may want to make sure that your batteries are charged and your charger is handy because you'll be playing this game for a while.
