How to Sync Your Pocket PC with A Wirelss Network
1. Make sure both Client for Microsoft Networks is bound to TCP/IP and NetBIOS is enabled over TCP/IP on the LAN network adapter. You can find these settings in the properties of My Network Places (Win 2000, XP) or Network Neighborhood (98).
2. Open ActiveSync on your PC and go to File -- Connection Settings and check the Allow network (Ethernet) checkbox, instructing your PC to sync via a network both wired and wireless.
3. On you Pocket PC go to Start -- ActiveSync -- Tools -- Options -- PC and select the PC you want to sync with in the drop down list. Your PC will more then likely already be listed there.
4. Go to the Server Tab and make sure nothing is selected.
5. Go to the Schedule window make sure nothing is checked there.
Once those things are done you'r ready to get started. ActiveSync is a manual process when done wirelessly. To start ActiveSync from the PPC, go to Start -- ActiveSync and tap the Sync icon at the left middle of the window.
I like to tell ActiveSync to keep my connection even after it syncs so I can manage my files and folders through the connection. To do this go to ActiveSync on your Pocket PC then to Tools -- Options -- Options (again) and check Maintain Connection.
Note: If your running any firewall software on the desktop, I suggest you disable it if you're having any connectivity problems. It shouldn't be an issue, but if you can't connect turn it off temporarily.
If you're still having problems with your connection, post a message in the pdaBlast! Forums.
