Microsoft Announces Software for CDMA Networks

Microsoft has announced the availability of their Smartphone and Pocket PC Phone Edition software for CDMA capable networks. This recent development will allow CDMA-focused manufacturers to create devices which will utilize the features presented in the Windows Powered Smartphone and Pocket PC Phone Edition software.

The decision to support CDMA networks in addition to the already supported GSM/GPRS networks will give newfound growth potential. CDMA Networks have the widest deployment amonst the different cellular networks in the United States, and CDMA networks saw a 31% growth in 2002.

With the announcement of the CDMA software comes the first two announced devices which will be running on this software, the Samsung SPH-m400 and the Hitachi Multimedia Communicator.
