Samsung and Microsoft Collaborate on Low Cost Pocket PC Design

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - November 11, 2002

Samsung and Microsoft have announced the availability of a Windows® Powered Pocket PC concept design that will lower costs and reduce product development time for manufacturers.

The design, which can be used with either a color or grayscale QVGA display, runs on a Samsung ARM9-based S3C2410 processor which utilizes NAND Flash Memory. Multimedia is accounted for with the multimedia card, SD and SDIO being included in the concept design.

Size was a big consideration when designing this device, and the Samsung concept design should set a new standard with it's 4.1-by-2.8-inch size. A grayscale version could weigh as little as 2.9 oz.
