News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - October 22, 2002

Today is a very exciting day for Windows Powered Smartphone. Not only does today mark the global launch of the Smartphone 2002 platform in London, but Microsoft has just announced that Samsung, the world's number 3 handset manufacturer has made a cross-platform commitment to Windows Powered Devices. Samsung will be developing devices for both the Pocket PC Phone edition as well as Smartphone 2002.

The Smartphone offering from Samsung will offer a flip-top design. This differs from the 'candybar' style of handset which has been most prominently displayed up to this point.
